GHMC Commissioner M.T. Krishna Babu on Monday has asked the entomology wing to be more vigilant in the coming days as the months of September and October record a spurt in water, air and vector-borne diseases.

He also gave the go-ahead for the procurement of four fogging machines required by the wing.

On complaints about errant workers, Mr. Krishna Babu directed the officials to take action against them and cut salary for their absence.

He also directed officials to set up display boards at graveyards, asking the public to get the names of the deceased registered with the caretaker there. This would facilitate the issue of death certificates without difficulty.

Observing that restaurants and bars were coming up in residential localities, the Commissioner sought special drives to seize them and cancel trade licences issued earlier, if any.

He said only 87 schools had registered for the clay and blocks required for preparing Green Ganesh idols. Mr. Krishna Babu directed Additional Commissioner (Health and Sanitation) L. Vandan Kumar to personally monitor with all the medical officers towards convincing school managements.
