September 24, 2012 11:27 am | Updated 11:27 am IST - HYDERABAD:

GHMC’s Central Zone Commissioner Ronald Rose has been appointed as the enquiry officer to probe the incident where an executive engineer had allegedly manhandled a contractor leading to the contractors striking all works related to the biodiversity meet for the last two days.

Assurance

Commissioner M.T. Krishna Babu on Sunday held talks with the Contractors’ Association and reasoned out with them that action against the official concerned would be after the submission of an enquiry report. He also appealed to the contractors to start the works immediately.

Charges

The contractors had charged an executive engineer of circle 10, Mohan Singh, of manhandling a contractor, M. Nagesh, for demanding payment for completing a cement road costing Rs.16 lakh.

Talks

Earlier, late on Saturday night, Mayor Mohd. Majid Hussain held discussions with the association office bearers, including Munawar Hussain and appealed for works to be resumed in view of the forthcoming meet.

The Mayor had also assured them that action would be taken against the engineer if the probe report finds him guilty.

An official spokesman claimed that the contractors had initiated the works following the talks.
