German shepherd mauls 75-year-old to death

July 05, 2013 01:13 am | Updated 01:13 am IST - HYDERABAD:

A German shepherd dog attacked an elderly person and bit him all over leading to his instantaneous death at Avusapally village of Dharur mandal in Ranga Reddy district on Thursday.

P. Narasimha Reddy, 75, had gone to attend a meeting organised near the Hanuman temple in the village, to discuss the forthcoming Sarpanch elections. His relative, Mohan Reddy, had also arrived with his German shepherd dog. Even as Narasimha Reddy was interacting with other village elders to finalise the candidate, the dog freed itself from the chain and attacked him.

Villagers tried in vain to rescue the elderly person. When contacted, police said they had not received any complaint from the family members.
