Fayaz Ahmed alias ‘Chor’ Fayaz was returning home after attending afternoon prayers when his rivals attacked him from behind with a knife
A gangster, who was involved in a series of criminal cases, including a murder and assault on policemen, was killed by his rivals near his residence at Nehrunagar within the Madannapet Police Station limits on Friday afternoon.
Fayaz Ahmed alias ‘Chor’ Fayaz (35) was returning home after attending afternoon prayers when his rivals attacked him from behind with a knife. After Fayaz collapsed, the assailants smashed his head with a boulder, killing him on the spot, said Santoshnagar ACP S. Sai Krishna. The assailants attacked Fayaz after observing his movements for the past few days. Fayaz would regularly shuttle between Madannapet and Rein Bazaar to meet his family members.
The ACP said Fayaz was involved in 59 criminal cases, which include 29 thefts, nine snatchings, eight extortions, five ganja cases, three cases pertaining to attack on policemen and one murder. The victim had been committing the offences since 2003. He was allegedly involved in settling property disputes, police said. A month ago, Fayaz was told to be careful while moving outside, but he had ignored the warning, police said. “Fayaz’s death was not the result of a gang war. Some persons known to him could have killed him after a dispute with him. Inquires revealed that three persons were involved in the case,” the ACP added.
