The police on Saturday arrested three persons, including two women, for allegedly cheating gullible people on the pretext of providing house sites and loans under different government schemes such as Rajiv Gruha Kalpa, Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) and Indiramma Runalu.
Dasari Srikanth alias Bablu (26) of Dhoolpet, P. Rukmini Devi (45), president of Bhavani Mahila Mandali and resident of Padmaja Colony in Bowenpally and A. Anuradha (40), Osmania General Hospital College of Nursing warden and resident of Chaitanyapuri along with other associates enrolled nearly 300 members promising them house sites and loans under various government schemes and duped them, the police said.
The gang members collected Rs. 13,000 from each member promising to arrange Rs.1 lakh loan under the ‘Indiramma Runalu’ scheme. They had also collected Rs. 25,000 from each member promising house sites at Kukatpally, Tirumalgherry and Nandanavanam Colony in Karmanghat under the JNNURM scheme.
The gang had collected Rs.2 crore from 300 members. Based on a complaint lodged by a private employee Gnaneshwar, the police registered a case against the accused and arrested the trio.
