Police on Monday caught a gang of five persons who allegedly committed three robberies at knifepoint at Begumbazar, Ramgopalpet and Siddiamberbazar in the city in past three months.
Three bikes, which the gang purchased with the stolen money, were recovered, the Hyderabad Central Crime Station DCP P.J. Victor said.
Identifying victims
The gang comprising Mohd. Faraz Khan, Habeeb, Syed Habeeb, Shaik Junaid Ali and Mohd. Yusuf Khan used to identify people carrying cash at commercial localities like Begumbazar and Siddiamberbazar and follow them.
They would attack such people and collect the cash at knifepoint, the DCP said
Rs 90,000 stolen
Thieves took away Rs. 90,000 from a house at Malla Reddy Nagar in Lothkunta of Trimulgherry police station area in the early hours of Monday.
The house owner, Bhaskar Reddy, told the police that he and his family members were awake till Sunday midnight packing luggage for a journey abroad.
Bag left on table
“They left a bag containing cash on the table. The offender entered the house by unbolting the door at the rear side of the house by inserting his hand through the adjacent window,” the police said. A case has been registered by the Trimulgherry police and investigations are underway.
