Members of the Sikh community in twin cities celebrated the 311th Khalsa Panth Foundation day, popularly known as ‘Baisakhi' festival on a grand scale on Wednesday.
The Prabhandak Committee Gurudwara Saheb Ameerpet organised “Vishaal Deewan” at Sri Guru Gobind Singhji Play Grounds, Ameerpet.
The congregation was marked by the recitations of ‘Gurbani keertans' and ‘Kathas' (holy hymns) by the renowned Ragi Jathas (religious preachers), who were specially invited from various parts of the country for the occasion.
The preachers called upon the devotees to follow the teachings of Guru Granth Sahibji, which stands for national integration, communal harmony, brotherhood and peace. After culmination of the congregation, the traditional ‘Guru-ka-Langar' (free community kitchen) was served to all devotees.
Later, in the evening a colourful ‘Nagar Keertan' (holy procession) was taken out from Gurudwara Saheb Ameerpet and passed through the main corridors Greenlands, Begumpet, Punjagutta and returned back to Gurudwara Saheb Ameerpet in the evening.
During the procession, Guru Granth Sahebji was carried on a beautifully decorated vehicle along with five “Nishaan saheban” and Sikh youth displayed ‘Gatka', a martial art form with swords and weapons.
On Thursday, ‘Baisakhi Keertan Darbar' will be held between 8 p.m. and 1.30 a.m. at Guru Gobind Singhji Sports Stadium, Ameerpet.
