Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari was said to have expressed dismay over delay in bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh State Transport Corpor-ation when Transport Minister P. Mahender Reddy and Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao called on him to requ-est speeding up of the process.
Sources said Mr. Gadkari was sore that the Chief Secretaries of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana I.Y.R. Krishna Rao and Mr. Rajiv Sharma respectively did not carry out his orders when they met him over the matter in New Delhi a few months ago. He informed the Telangana Ministers that he had specifically asked the Chief Secretaries to settle the issue after constituting a committee of heads of departments.
The Ministers told him that the committee indeed went into the issue but could not achieve much progress after it identified a large chunk of properties belonging to APSRTC in Andhra Pradesh. The panel’s report went against Telangana which slowed down the process. At this, Mr. Gadkari expressed unhappiness that he was not kept informed of the developments.
Sources added that Mr. Gadkari assured to convene another meeting with the two Chief Secretaries to break the impasse.
