Toy maker Funskool India Ltd. has partnered with Germany’s Brandstätter Group to become the sole distributor for the Playmobil line of toys in India.
“With Funskool, we are excited to launch the Playmobil toy brand in India,” said Jens Mohrle, senior director international business development, Playmobil.
“We have been watching carefully the development of the Indian toy market. However, it has always been clear to us that we will only enter the Indian market together with a strong and powerful distribution partner,” he said in a release issued at a press briefing on the partnership, in the city on Tuesday.
Funskool India CEO John Baby and vice-chairman and managing director of MRF Ltd. Arun Mammen were those addressed the meeting.
The Indian toy market is estimated at ₹3,000 crore, which makes it only around 0.5% of the world toy market. However, it is expected to be one of the fastest growing over the next ten years, the release said.
“Our partnership with Playmobil is a reflection of our vision to ensure that children play with the highest quality toys in India”, Mr. Baby said. Besides building its own brands as also manufacturing under license from companies like Disney and Warner Brothers, the focus of Funskool is also on the distribution business, where it represents many globally leading toy companies and brands.
