A four-year-old boy, who was on his way to school, was kidnapped by a motorcyclist at Shamshabad on Wednesday.
The boy, Santosh Kumar, was accompanied by his six-year-old sister Sanjana, and was walking to school when the abductor came on a bike.
“The children were actually being taken from their house in R.B. Nagar to a nearby private school by their mother Sujana,” the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Inspector D. Durga Prasad said.
When they were within 150 yards of the school, the children sent their mother back, saying they could go on their own.
Within seconds of the woman leaving them, a motorcyclist rode in, called the boy, promising him a ride. Once the boy sat on the bike, he sped away.
Shaken sister conceals incident
The boy’s sister, meanwhile, went to school. When the teachers enquired of her brother, she told them that he had not turned up since he was suffering from fever.
It was only in the afternoon, when their mother came to pick up the children, did the abduction come to light.
“The girl was apparently too confused and frightened. Initially, she couldn’t explain what had happened. After some patient conversation, she revealed about the kidnap,” the police said. The boy’s father Naresh is a painter. He hasn’t received any ransom call.
The police have launched a hunt for the abductor, having formed special teams pursuing different leads.
