Three policemen were injured when residents of locality hurled stones to protest against the demolition of illegal houses taken up by the GHMC officials near Kukatpally on Monday morning. Over a dozen residents too were injured in the subsequent lathicharge by the policemen.

The civic authorities took up the demolitions of houses which were allegedly constructed in the full tank level (FTL) area of Maisamma kunta. By afternoon, authorities demolished more than 15 houses and 45 more were to be demolished.

Authorities began pulling down houses on using hydraulic earth movers under police protection. Tension was still continuing in the area.
