The four-member gang advertised on job portals promising offers in reputed companies

Police on Sunday arrested four persons, including two students, for allegedly duping the unemployed by giving duplicate job offer letters of reputed companies after collecting money from them.

The arrested persons have been identified as Sameer Ahmed Khan (23) of Risala Bazaar in Bollarum, Y. Durga Prasad (23) of Medchal, T. Srikanth (21) of Shapurnagar and Shanmugham Avinash (23) of Alwal. A computer, laptop, bike, two mobile phones and Rs. 3.70 lakh cash were recovered from them.

The police said the gang advertised on job portals. An engineering graduate who responded to one such advertisement was contacted by a person who introduced himself as Anand and asked for Rs. 60,000 along with other particulars.

The complainant, who deposited the money and collected the offer letter, went to a corporate office in Bangalore only to realise that the offer letter was a duplicate one. When he tried to contact Anand over phone, his mobile phone was switched off. Based on a complaint lodged by the engineering graduate, the police arrested the gang.

Sameer completed B.Com while Srikanth discontinued tenth class and Prasad was working as a gym coach. Avinash was a private employee, the police said.
