In the event of a terror attack on an IT park, what are the first steps to be initiated and by whom? Should there be more focus on evacuation or alerting the security forces? Who is responsible for carrying out these emergency tasks? These are just some of the concerns that will be addressed in the form of a definite Emergency Response Preparedness (ERP) protocol being prepared by the Cyberabad police for the IT industry.

Recently, the Society for Cyberabad Security Council held a review meeting where it was decided that there should be a SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for emergency situations. Still in the planning stage, the final draft of the SOP would be ready in a few weeks.

As part of the initiative, the police department is likely to gather all the information regarding IT parks’ campus maps, employee size, management details and the commercial as well as public establishments surrounding it.

The police department is then likely to hold meetings with various companies in the IT parks and buildings and sensitise them to the Emergency Response Preparedness. In the drive that will take place over the next few months, all the IT establishments will be covered with assigning definite roles to some staff. The private security staff will also be asked to adhere to the SOP in the case of unforeseen circumstances.

The techies might also be in for a surprise in the coming days. Mock bomb disposal as well as combat and evacuation drill by the special forces will also be undertaken at various important locations in Cyberabad as part of the initiative.
