Former Congress Ministers P. Sabita Indra Reddy and Dharmana Prasada Rao were among six accused named by the Central Bureau of Investigation in a supplementary charge sheet filed in a CBI court here on Saturday against Penna group in the assets case of YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.
The ex-Ministers also figured in some other charge sheets against companies that invested in Jagan’s firms after they were doled out favours by the government on quid pro quo basis. But, the original charge sheet against Penna group did not cite them as accused.
After further investigation, the CBI has now charged Sabita Indra Reddy, a former Mines and Geology Minister, and V.D. Rajagopal, a former Mines Director, of violating norms in the allotment of 304 hectares of limestone quarry to Penna in Kurnool district.
Similarly, former Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao, former Principal Revenue Secretary M. Samuel, former Anantapur District Revenue Officer Sudarshan Reddy and former Tahsildar of Yadiki mandal Yellamma were charged with allotment of 231 acres in favour of Penna group in Yadiki mandal of Anantapur district in violation of norms. In return, the group chairman Pratap Reddy invested Rs 63 crore in Jagan’s companies.
