Telangana Forest Department officials on Monday rescued a four-horned antelope (Chowsinga or Konda Gorre) which had fallen into a dry well near Mokila village of Shankarpally in Ranga Reddy district.

The department received the information from a villager named Ramesh, about a deer falling into the well.

An anti-poaching squad from Hyderabad headed by a Forest Range Officer was immediately dispatched to the location for the rescue, assisted by the police. Another rescue team arrived with a rescue van from the Nehru Zoological Park, led by a veterinary assistant surgeon.

The teams managed to get down into the well using rope ladders and with some effort, rescued the antelope. The animal had superficial bruises on its legs, throat and back, for which first-aid was administered on the site. Later, it was shifted to the zoo, a press communiqué from the Forest Department said.
