NCC cadets from various educational institutions formed a human chain spelling out the word ‘YOGA’ at the Government High School grounds at V. Venkatayapalem in Raghunadhapalem mandal on the occasion of the International Yoga Day on Wednesday.

More than 500 NCC cadets of senior and junior divisions took part in a yoga session held on the sprawling grounds under the supervision of yoga instructors from Ramakrishna Mission.

The participants performed various asanas spreading the message of “a healthy mind in a healthy body”. The yoga awareness programme was conducted coinciding with the ongoing combined training camp for NCC cadets being organised by 11 Telangana NCC Battalion, Khammam, at V. Venkatayapalem.

Col. Rajender Malik, Officiating Commanding Officer, 11 Telangana NCC Battalion, Subedar Major Tarun Kumar Manna, and others were present.

Yoga demonstrations and rallies marked the celebration of the International Yoga Day elsewhere in the district.

A yoga demonstration was organised at the Police Training Centre in Khammam. Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal and others participated.

In Bhadradri-Kothagudem district, yoga awareness-cum- demonstration camp was organised at Prakasham Khani Opencast Project-II in Manuguru on Wednesday morning.

The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Manuguru Area General Manager, Ch. Narasimha Rao, and others took part in the programme.

District Superintendent of Police Ambar Kishor Jha and other police officials participated in a yoga session held on the OSD’s camp office premises in Kothagudem.

Yoga for health

NALGONDA Staff Reporter writes: Yoga and fitness enthusiasts joined the officials of the district administration at Nagarjuna Government College here to mark the third International Yoga Day.

Organised jointly by the State government and National Ayush Mission, yoga masters helped the participants perform basic and intermediate level asanas. Occupying half of the ground of the college were the participants from different walks of life.

Officials from various departments, doctors, school students and joggers joined the one-hour yoga demonstration and practice session.

Giving out tips to maintain a healthy body by doing yoga, the coordinators and yoga gurus from Ayush said yoga should be done in an incremental manner according to an individual’s capacity.

To make yoga a useful contribution to everyone’s health in developing the mind and body, ‘Yoga for Health’ has been identified as the theme this year.

Present with the gathering was Joint Collector C. Narayan Reddy, who said yoga was something that everyone should learn.

Chairman of the Indian Red Cross Society for Nalgonda, Goli Amarender Reddy, also reminded the participants of the special courses available in colleges to learn yoga.

District Revenue Divisional Officer E. Venkata Chary and Indian Medical Association President for Nalgonda Vasantha Kumari were present among others.

Instructors felicitated

NIZAMABAD Special Correspondent writes: People from various walks of life and officials including former MLA Yendala Lakshminarayana and BJP district president Palle Ganga Reddy performed yoga at Shravya Garden here on Wednesday.

District Revenue Officer Ramesh declared open the session after lighting a traditional lamp. Nehru Yuva Kendra, Ayush and district administration jointly organised the event that lasted for about 50 minutes. District Yoga Association president Ramchander and secretary Sidhiramulu instructed the participants on performing several asanas.

Revenue Divisional Officer Vinodkumar, Assistant CP D. Anandkumar, TSSP commandant Sambaiah and assistant commandant Venkatramudu, NYK coordinator M. Ramchander Rao, IRCS State MC member T. Rajashekar were among those who attended the programme.

In Kamareddy district headquarters, Collector N. Satyanarayana felicitated 10 yoga gurus on the occasion. Government Whip G. Govardhan was among those who participated in the event organised at Parsi Ramulu Kalyana Mandapam.

SANGAREDDY Staff Reporter writes: Yoga instructors demonstrated several asanas on the occasion in Sangareddy, Medak and Siddipet districts on Wednesday. The organisers told the participants that performing yoga would address many health issues. In Sangareddy, the programme was held at PSR Gardens in which MLA Ch. Prabhakar took part. In Siddipet, the programme was organised at Konda Bhudevi Gardens.
