Five persons, including four women of a family, were killed on Friday morning when a Tata Aria, they were travelling in, rammed a lorry laden with sand from behind on Outer Ring Road at Pahadi Shareef on City outskirts.

The vehicle registered in Maharashtra was going from Gachibowli to Ibrahimpatnam side when the accident occurred around 6 a.m., the Shamshabad ACP J. Bhadreshwar told The Hindu . “The sand lorry was moving slowly and extremely to the left. We’re not yet sure as to what resulted in the accident,” he said.

The vehicle hit the lorry apparently at high speed and got stuck beneath it. Death was instant for four women travelling in it. Another man died while being shifted to hospital.

The person driving the vehicle, believed to be its owner, suffered injuries. Along with him three other injured have been shifted to near-by Medicare hospital.
