Five held for vehicle thefts in State

Five persons involved in a series of vehicle theft cases were arrested by Cyberabad police on Thursday.

Stolen motorcycles worth over Rs.18 lakh were recovered from the arrested persons — Pitla Mahesh (26) of Karimnagar, B. Somaiah (26) and G. Narayana (35), both natives of Medak district, Mohammed Mujahid Ali (29) of Uppuguda and Mohammed Sameer (26) of Kurmaguda.

After his release from jail last August, Mahesh thieved 30 motorcycles and sold them through his associates — Somaiah and Narayana in Medak district for Rs.5, 000 each.

The gang committed vehicle thefts from under eight police station limits in Hyderabad and Cyberabad, as also Medak and Karimnagar districts.

Two others — Mohammed Mujahid Ali and Mohammed Sameer — were involved in five similar cases under the Kukatpally Housing Board Colony and Chatrinaka police station limits.
