Minister for Fisheries Talasani Yadav will be visiting Kaleshwararam project area along with fishermen on April 23 to create awareness on how the project will benefit them.

The Fisheries Department officials have estimated that the project would benefit about one lakh fishermen and it would further help in the extensive distribution of fish seed free of cost to the fishermen.

Mr. Srinivas Yadav who held a meeting with Animal Husbandry Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania and Fisheries Commissioner Suvarna at the Secretariat here on Thursday decided to visit the Kaleshwaram project along with about 1,000 fishermen. They would visit Medigadda, Kannepalli, Dharmaram and other reservoirs under the Kaleshwaram project.

After the formation of Telangana State, government had launched several schemes and programmes focusing on irrigation projects, economic uplift of those practising traditional vocations and caste based professions. Distribution of fish seed was one of the programmes to give impetus to fisheries and help the fishermen earn a decent living, he said.
