Panic prevailed at the Kukatpally franchise of Chutneys on Sunday morning after a fire broke out inside the restaurant, turning property worth lakhs into ash. The blaze is suspected to have started due to sparks from an air conditioner.

Fire officials said at around 9 a.m, they received an emergency call after which three fire tenders carrying 20 fire fighters reached the spot to douse the fire.

“Fire tenders from Kukatpally, Sanathnagar and Madhapur rushed to the spot and saved property worth around ₹10 crore,” a fire official said.

The panicked staff of the restaurant managed to evacuate about 50 customers with the help of fire fighters. “A lot of smoke was billowing from the second floor of the building, and the management alerted the police and the fire department,” added the official.
