Cyberabad police on Saturday arrested a Telugu film writer on charges of cheating a 19-year-old junior artiste, after promising her good roles in movies. Chand Pasha (24) of Uppal had also lured the girl into a relationship, impregnating her, police said.

The girl, hailing from Kothagudem in Khammam district, had approached Pasha after she saw a newspaper advertisement. He promised to provide roles in Telugu films and serials and collected Rs.5.5 lakh from her as fee towards membership in a junior film artists association.

After arranging for a role in a film titled Love Syllabus , Pasha developed a relationship with her, after which he promised to marry her. After the girl became pregnant, she began requesting him to marry her, but he continued to evade the matter. With the help of his friends, he threatened to kill the girl if she approached him in future.

The girl then lodged a complaint with Nacharam police, who booked a case and arrested him.
