March 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - HYDERABAD:

A group of students of the University of Hyderabad protested the ban on beef in Maharashtra by screening a documentary and also by serving the meat to participating students. More than 100 students gathered on the campus and watched the documentary. Students said beef eating on campus was legal and that the Supreme Court ruling had made this evident. They said there was nothing illegal or wrong in consuming beef, which was not only a cultural practice but also the cheapest source of protein the poor could afford.
