Favouritism in OU recruitment alleged

June 21, 2013 06:46 pm | Updated 06:46 pm IST - Hyderabad:

An aspirant to a teaching position at the Osmania University Linguistics Department has petitioned the Governor, alleging ‘favouritism’ in the recently concluded recruitment interviews.

Syeda Humera Amtul Qadeer who had applied for the post of Assistant Professor in the Department of Linguistics, alleged that less meritorious candidates were favoured and urged the Governor to intervene and render justice to her.

The Minorities Rights Protection Committee (MRPC) has also urged the Governor to order an enquiry into the selection process. The Principal Secretary, Higher Education, has been instructed to look into the representation for ‘appropriate action as deemed fit’ by the Governor’s secretariat, according to the memorandum submitted, a copy of which was released here on Tuesday.
