May 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 07:53 am IST - HYDERABAD:

An official meeting on Wednesday decided to secure utilisation certificates from banks and hand over to government the funds that could not be adjusted against beneficiaries of crop loan waiver scheme due to various irregularities.

The meeting chaired by Agriculture Secretary C. Parthasarathi and Commissioner G.D. Priyadarshini noted that the money could not be adjusted in some cases because loans were taken where there was no land or farmers produced bogus pattadar passbooks.

Discussing the preparedness of agriculture department for kharif operations from next month, the meeting noted that five lakh quintals of different varieties of seed would be supplied on subsidy. Alternative agricultural policy in the event of deficit rainfall was also debated, a release said.
