The Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI) has come up with vision documents for socio economic development of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States. The documents throw light on the core competencies of both the States and chalk out road maps for their development. The focus is on integrated, decentralised inclusive growth across the states.
“This has become essential with creation of 29 State of Telangana”, said FAPCCI president, Srinivas Ayyadevara.
He told presspersons here on Wednesday that the vision documents would be presented to major political parties soon. The formation of Telangana necessitated drawing of new strategies and policies to suit the varied requirement of both the States. FAPCCI, which is in its 96 year, would continue to serve the needs of trade and industry in both the States, he assured.
The development plan for Telangana suggests taking two to three districts as an economic unit to promote them as growth centres to mitigate regional feelings. It calls for clubbing of Adilabad and Karimnagar, Nizambad-Medak, Warangal-Khammam, Greater Hyderabad including Ranga Reddy, Mahbubnagar and Nalgonda.
It suggests planned urbanisation of Warangal, Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Khammam as first rung cities and other district headquarters as second rung cities. Creation of land banks for each district for optimum utilisation of available land, formulation of integrated state human development plan, mechanisation of agriculture for better productivity, creation of required cold storage and warehousing facilities are some of the other suggestions.
The document wants economic activities to be planned based on the strengths and resources of the area. It wants Hyderabad to be made a second financial capital of India while Greater Hyderabad with its infrastructure facilities to be developed as aerospace and defence related industrial hub.
The FAPCCI suggested revival of the Warangal airport and creation of two new airports at Nizamabad and Khammam. On the power front, it estimated the shortage in Telangana to be 3000 MW since most of the power plants are located in the residuary State.
