September 21, 2014 11:43 am | Updated 11:43 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The Falaknuma police have moved the court seeking custody of Mohd. Akbar, who was arrested along with his wife Sumiyah Qureshi and mother-in-law Khursheed Begum on Friday, for allegedly forcing his sister-in-law, a minor into prostitution and are presently lodged in jail.

The police told the court that they need to gather details about a man, who took the girl to Goa and spent a week with her.

“We need to question Akbar and to know about the man who sexually exploited the minor. Also, we need know more about Akbar’s activities,” an official said.

Rs.15,000 paid to Akbar

Police said that the man had paid Akbar Rs.15,000 and took the girl along with him on September 9 by a flight to Goa and returned to the city a week later. The minor escaped from her house on Wednesday and lodged a complaint with police the next day after which Khursheed, Sumiyah and Akbar were arrested.

Meanwhile, social activists have demanded a thorough probe in the case.

“The victim stated that she was being forced into prostitution for the last one year. If the Kanchanbagh police had thoroughly questioned Akbar during his arrest in February, the present case would have also come to light long ago saving the minor from torment,” S.Q Masood, a social activist said.
