Each metro rail station has its own unique features but few things are going to be common. For instance, first floor or the concourse unpaid level can be used by pedestrians to cross over from one lane to another and this does not require a ticket.

Convenience stores, ATM machines, offices for technical staff and other amenities are being provided on this level.

Ameerpet station will have all this and much more, being an interchange station, where Corridor 1 - Miyapur to L.B. Nagar will cross Corrdor 3 - Nagole to Hi-Tec City/Raidurg at a higher level.

More than 1,000 skilled staff and engineers are working round the clock to get it into shape as the interchange station links the two corridors for proposed inaugural metro service launch - Nagole-Ameerpet-Miyapur of 30 km, explain metro rail officials.

Yet another monumental engineering masterpiece designed in house by concessionnaire L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad, here trains are to halt for up to two minutes unlike other stations where the halt could be up to 20 seconds to allow passengers time to alight and board another train at another floor in the station.

Station will be 142 metres long and 40 metres wide with space for retail and entertainment zones and entry and exits from all four sides embellished with eight lifts, 16 escalators and staircases. Automated sumps of one lakh litre capacity have been provided for domestic and fire exigency.

With 40,000 passengers expected to use the station every day, these facilities can accommodate a minimum of 6,000 passengers at any point of time. Emergency evacuation systems, automated fire protection system and rain water harvesting pits too have been out in place. LED lighting, back-up power through generators, et al would be monitored from Operation Control Centre in Uppal depot.
