Assumes charge as SCR Additional General Manager

An officer belonging to the 1979 batch of the Indian Railway Service of Stores (IRSS), Umesh Singh, on Monday assumed charge as Additional General Manager, South Central Railway.

Earlier, he was Controller of Stores in the same zone and succeeds Sunil Kumar Agarwal who was posted to Northern Railway. A graduate in Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Singh has a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Southern Cross University, Australia. He started his career in 1981 and in the last decade of service, has worked in Western Railway, South East Central Railway, East Coast Railway and North Central Railway. As Controller of Stores, he is said to have optimised performance standards in material and sales management, helping SCR achieve an all time record in sale of scrap. He is credited with introducing the Google mapping system to enable bidders to purchase scrap in a transparent manner.
