Water, sewerage and power facilities to be strengthened

Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi asked officials to expedite preparation of action-plans for developmental work in the Old City as per instructions from CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao, and take measures to start the work.

During a review meeting, Mr. Joshi sought officials to work on system strengthening with regard to water and sewerage lines, by laying new pipelines wherever needed. A notification has been issued for appointment of consultant for preparation of DPR to provide daily drinking water supply in Old City.

Officials have informed the Chief Secretary that the sewerage master plan for Karwan and Nampally constituencies has been prepared and presented for the govt.’s approval. Work in south of Musi would be completed with an expenditure of ₹400 crore, they said. Mr. Joshi asked them to complete it within a year. Five km of the 10.89 km storm water drain work in the Old City have been completed.

Mr. Joshi also asked for identification of lands for construction of substations at Dabeerpura, Darul Shifa, Miralam, Hafiz Baba Nagar, and Chandrayan Gutta, to strengthen the power supply network. At Falaknuma, Toli Chowki, Chatrinaka, Malakpet and Karwan, measures should be taken for construction of substations, he said. The Chief Secretary asked the officials to ensure that all schools in the area have power supply before they reopened after summer vacation. He also asked officials concerned to take measures to open neighbourhood clinics or ‘Basthi Dawakhanas’ at nine remaining locations in Old City.

Dana Kishore, HMR MD N.V.S. Reddy, Director of School Education Kishan and GHMC additional commissioner Bharathi Hollikeri participated in the meeting.
