Ravinder used to work with the CRPF and took voluntary retirement three years ago. He was jobless since then. Depressed over not finding any job and owing to his financial problems Ravinder got addicted to alcohol and often picked up quarrels with his wife over trivial issues, the police said.

On Tuesday night, Ravinder came to the house drunk and picked up a quarrel with Surabhi after she asked him not to consume alcohol. “Heated arguments ensued between the couple following which Ravinder took a stick from the kitchen and repeatedly hit the woman on the head. She sustained serious injuries and died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital,” Inspector Saidabad, A Srinivasulu said.

Later, the man tried to end his life by hitting himself with the stick. However, locals caught him and handed him over to the police.
