Shrugging off the cold weather and the leisure of sleeping an extra hour on Sunday, over 3,000 enthusiasts, including corporate employees, students, turned up in large numbers to participate in the Hyderabad Metro Connects-2014 community cycling ride from Miyapur to L.B. Nagar.
L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited (LTMRHL) in association with Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited, Atlanta Foundation (TAF) and Hyderabad Bicycling Club (HBC) organised the cycling ride.
Second of the series'The ride was the second of the three-ride series planned across the three Metro Rail Corridors - Red Line, Green Line & Blue Line in three editions. Today’s ride was Red Edition - marking the colour of the HMR Corridor I.
The event was flagged off by P.V.Sindhu, renowned badminton player.
V.B. Gadgil, CE & MD, L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited and N.V.S Reddy, Managing Director, HMRL were also present.
The ride kicked off from HMR Miyapur Depot and culminated at L.B. Nagar Indoor Stadium with a felicitation ceremony for all the riders.
Addressing on the occasion, Mr. Reddy, stated, “Cycling is fun, functional and for fitness. Hyderabad Metro Rail project is being designed and built in a unique way. Creation of high quality public space, sidewalks, skywalks and bicycle stations at Metro stations would be an integral part of our Metro design”.
Mr. V.B.Gadgil also spoke on the occasion.
