Engineering aspirants may have to wait till August 30 to give their web options for courses and colleges as the officials are toying with the idea of not opening web options from August 22, as per the original schedule, in view of the disturbances affecting certificate verification in the Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions.
Web options were to be opened on August 22 for rankers 1 to 40,000 and close on August 23.
Similarly, the window would have opened from August 24 to 26 for rankers between 40,001 and 80,000. Every additional 40,000 rankers would have got two days from thereon till September 1. Web options would have been opened on September 2 for all the candidates to make the preferred changes one last time. However, closure of several helpline centres by the striking employees and disturbances in many other centres in 13 districts has forced the officials to declare that students can attend certificate verification till August 30.
Verification
Unless certificates are verified there is little chance of web options being allowed. “If we open the web options as per schedule there will be lot of apprehensions among those who could not get their certificates verified on time due to disturbances. So we are contemplating not opening the web options till the month end,” an official said.
“We don’t want to increase students’ worries by sticking to the schedule,” the official said.
Officials are not unduly worried much over the delay since web options process can be completed within a couple of days for all the students if the certificate verification goes on smoothly now. Anyway, the final allotment of seats was planned on September 5 and even if certificate verification is completed by August 30, officials feel they can still stick to the original schedule of allotments and start the classes immediately thereafter.
Review meeting
The APSCHE Chairman, P. Jayaprakash Rao, said that review meeting on Wednesday will take a decision. “Our first priority is to conduct the certificate verification to all students.”
