An engineering graduate from Kadapa district, B. Sravanthi Reddy, committed suicide by hanging in her private hostel room at Punjagutta on Monday.

The police said the 24-year-old woman, who completed degree two years ago, came to the city in search of a job and was residing at Sai Krupa hostel for working women at Nagarjunanagar in Yellareddyguda. Around 1 p.m., her roommates found her hanging to the ceiling fan with a ‘chunni’.

In a separate incident, an Inter student, Vinay Kumar, hanged himself in his house at Kalasiguda in Secunderabad, reportedly after his father chided him for not focusing enough on studies. His father Prem Kumar works in R.T.C’s Charminar depot as mechanical engineer. The student was alone in the house.
