Emaar issue: VHR for probe

October 18, 2010 02:43 pm | Updated 02:43 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Senior Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao has urged Chief Minister K. Rosaiah to order CBI probe into the APIIC-Emaar properties issue to avoid the party president Sonia Gandhi's name being tarnished by the Opposition parties.

Speaking to reporters after calling on the Chief Minister at the latter's residence on Sunday, Mr. Hanumantha Rao wondered why there was reluctance on the government to order an inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the APIIC-Emaar properties deal. He reminded the Chief Minister that soon after the conclusion of the Commonwealth Games, Centre had ordered an inquiry into the role of Emaar Properties for alleged irregularities in construction.

In reply to a question that he would also organise yatra on the lines of Kadapa MP Y. S.Jaganmohan Reddy's ‘Odarpu yatra', if he also had money.
