Eight persons from Hyderabad go missing; communication fails

20 persons from Angadipeta of Petbasheerabad and Doodhbowli of Begumbazar were about to start for Gangotri when the downpour started

Amidst confusion about safety of people from Hyderabad who went to Uttarakhand for Char Dham pilgrimage, unconfirmed reports said that at least eight persons are reported missing. Whether they are unable to establish contact still or got washed away in the floods is not known.

A group of 20 persons from Angadipeta of Petbasheerabad and Doodhbowli of Begumbazar left for Uttarakhand on June 2. They were about to start for Gangotri after visiting Kedarnath on Sunday, when the downpour started.

Close relatives of Divyavathi, 55, of Angadipet, is believed to be among those missing. Vijay, another person from the city, called from Delhi stating that his mother-in-law Amrutha and two other close relatives are among those missing. Confusion prevailed about the pilgrims as the official machinery was clueless with the communication lines not restored yet.
