The Union Government will provide Rs. 41 crore for upgrading eight Industrial Training Institutes (ITI’s) in the State including a whopping Rs. 10 crore for the nearly six decades old Mallepally ITI in Hyderabad.
Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya, made this announcement after inspecting the Mallepally ITI along with Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy here on Wednesday.
Mr. Dattatreya said that the government has started the ‘Skill India programme’ to improve employability and entrepreneurial skills amongst the youth in the country. “We are taking several steps to bring down unemployment in the youth. Upgrading the ITI’s across and introduction of new courses is part the plan,” he said. The Minister added that courses like fashion designing, food processing, computer training and other women oriented programs will also be introduced in the ITI’s. He said that that government also plans to start a few ITI’s on Public Private Partnership mode in the country to improve the standards of the institutions. Nayani Narsimha Reddy apprised the Union Minister of various problems being faced by the students and faculty at the ITIs.
