Investigation suspect, allege police nexus with teacher-administrators
Students of the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) here on Wednesday decried “criminalising” of students in a report by the DCP, East Zone, submitted to the Commissioner of Police, about the recent protests in the campus following the suicide of Kashmiri research scholar Mudassir Kamran.
Representatives of the Struggle Committee for Justice for Mudassir expressed deep concern over the role of the police who have, they alleged, tried to bury facts in a nexus with some teacher-administrators, a press release said.
From entering the campus and picking up a PhD student without permission, to maligning the character of the dead, the actions of the police evidence its intent to protect the criminal, the press note alleged.
The latest move framing the protesting students further adds to doubts regarding the role of the police, it said. The committee warned that it would move court if police continued to act biased.
The students also took out a rally on Wednesday, demanding justice for P. Raju, a student from HCU who committed suicide on Tuesday.
