Students appearing for the entrance exams to the English and Foreign Languages University found themselves denied entry to test venue as the timings were erroneously printed on their admit cards.
Student organisations alleged that the slip was discovered in the admit cards of some aspirants who had taken the MA and MCJ exams. The timings of some exams also clashed, posing problems for those candidates appearing for two or more papers, a statement from the student bodies alleged.
Meanwhile, a different paper was supplied to candidates taking the comparative literature exam. The mistake was noticed only an hour into the exam. A re-exam was held for those students who got the ‘wrong paper’.
The representative of the university administration admitted that some software glitches had led to problems related to timing. But there were only a handful of such cases and the issues were sorted out once noticed, she said. The affected students were given food and accommodation, and their ticket fares reimbursed, the representative said. – Special Correspondent
