The Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) has received an export order worth $300,000 from Toshiba Corporation, Japan for the supply of antennae systems used in weather forecast.
An ECIL statement said the antenna systems – 8.5m S band antenna and 4.2m C band – will form part of weather monitoring radars and will be integrated with the transmitter, receiver and radar processor provided by Toshiba.
The purchase order for these antennae was handed over by Toshiba’s group manager Toshihide Banba to ECIL Chairman and MD P. Sudhakar.
Ink pactECIL and Toshiba have also signed an agreement to address the domestic and international market for doppler weather radars, providing a technically superior, highly reliable solution with greatly reduced operating costs and eco-friendly system.
Earlier, ECIL and Toshiba had bagged a prestigious order from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) for supply of Solid State Doppler Weather Radar.
This radar, installed at Srinagar, will be operational by January 2015, enabling the accurate prediction of weather and helping authorities take preventive measures while addressing natural calamities.
