July 20, 2010 04:59 pm | Updated 04:59 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The Congress party has urged the Election Commission to initiate appropriate legal action against Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K. Chandrasekhar Rao for violating the model code of conduct.

The APCC complained to the EC about the “highly provocative” speeches of Mr. Rao claiming they would encourage violence and create law and order problem in the State.

The delegation comprising B. Kamalakara Rao, G. Niranjan and others submitted a memorandum to Chief Electoral Officer I.V. Subba Rao on Monday incorporating the extracts of speeches made by Mr. Rao.

They said the TRS president was trying to lure young minds with false promises like jobs to one lakh youth in one year of formation of separate Telangana and his remarks on the Congress leaders that were likely to enrage the ruling party's cadre.

Quoting his speeches at an election rally in Dharmapuri, the Congress leaders urged the Commission to initiate necessary action failing which the situation was likely to be more polluted politically leading to indiscipline among the activists.
