EAMCET results released; counselling from May 25

Engineering topper is from Ranga Reddy, while medical topper is from Kurnool of Andhra Pradesh

The engineering stream saw a pass percentage of 78.24 while 90.72% of candidates cleared the Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (TS EAMCET) 2018, the results of which were announced here on Saturday.

Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari, who released the results along with TSCHE Chairman T. Papi Reddy, JNTU Vice-Chancellor A. Venugopal Reddy, EAMCET Convenor T. Yadaiah and Commissioner of Collegiate Education Navin Mittal, said that engineering admission counselling would begin on May 25 and the classes would commence on July 15.

He said Ayyapu Venkata Phani Vamsinath emerged topper with 150.17 marks in the engineering stream while P. Namratha secured the top rank in the Agriculture and Medical streams with a score of 145.88. Vamsinath hails from Ranga Reddy district while Namratha is from Kurnool of Andhra Pradesh.

Out of the 1,36,305 candidates who appeared for the engineering stream, 1,06,646 qualified while in the Agriculture and Medical stream, 60,651 candidates cleared out of the 66,858 who attempted the entrance test.

Mr. Srihari said that results of 7,559 candidates were withheld for want of details of qualifying examination.

Interestingly 14,453 candidates of engineering stream failed in the Intermediate exam though they passed the EAMCET. Similarly 4,480 candidates from the medical stream failed to clear Intermediate despite passing the EAMCET. The EAMCET was conducted online for the first time in Telangana from May 2 to 7.
