The Central Discom has increased the duration of the domestic power cuts in the city and surrounding areas to three hours per day with effect from Monday onwards.
As per the revised schedules, a load relief of three hours in two spells of one-and-a-half hour each day will be enforced across various divisions in the city, in staggered spells. The hours of power cut, which had been limited up to 2 p.m. earlier, have been extended into the evening hours too, up to 6.30 p.m.
Power cuts for the district headquarters have been increased to four hours per day while for towns and municipalities they will be six hours per day.
For mandal headquarters, they will be eight hours per day.
Besides, the Discom has announced power holidays for industries, also to be effected from Monday onwards.
Total shutdown
Industries will have to totally shutdown for one weekday henceforth, which would be other than the regular weekly holiday, officials from the CPDCL informed.
As per the company’s schedules, for all the three circles of the Metro Zone and the North Circle of Ranga Reddy Zone, the power holiday will be on Monday, while for the South and East circles of Ranga Reddy Zone, the same will be enforced on Wednesday.
The press release said there is a shortfall of 20 million units to 30 million units of energy per day, due to increased agricultural demand for the rabi cultivation, necessitating power cuts.
