The Telangana Telugu Desam Party has criticised the Telangana Rashtra Samiti-led State Government for its failure to initiate steps to provide relief to farmers and other sections which were facing severe hardship because of the acute drought prevailing all over the State.
TDP polit bureau member Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy was critical of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his Cabinet colleagues who were focussed on the by-election to the Palair Assembly constituency rather than taking steps to mitigate the hardship of people. The Centre had invited Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao for discussing the drought conditions in the State.
The TRS leaders, he alleged, had received commissions in the execution of Mission Kakatiya and the ruling party was engaged in inaugurating pylons constructed to mark the works. He accused the YSR Congress Party of colluding with the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti and indulging in mud-slinging against the TDP.
Mr. Reddy took strong objection to the reports being published by the YSR Congress owned media house against the TDP. He recalled how the TRS suffered because of defections during the Congress Government headed by former Chief Minister late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. Unfortunately the TRS was toeing the same line in encouraging defections from the other parties. The TDP, he said, withstood many such crises and had emerged stronger over the years in Telangana.
