Driver held for theft of property worth Rs. 1.37 crore

Spate of thefts committed in a matter of two months in Businessman’s house

It took two full months for a businessman’s family to realise that a spate of thefts took place at their house and property worth Rs. 1.37 crore was stolen. And, the culprit was none other than their own car driver.

Twenty-three gold biscuits weighing 2.3 kilograms, 1.5 tolas of gold ornaments, one Yamaha R15 motorcycle, Honda Activa, a laptop, six cell phones, three wrist watches and Rs. 12.70 lakh cash, all worth Rs. 1.25 crore, apart from the four-wheelers, were recovered at their instance.

G. Sudheer Babu, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), said that Tahsin was working as a car driver for the last eight years with Ajay Harinath, at Bowenpally. During November and December, Tahsin managed to obtain a duplicate key of the main door lock. “When the family was away, he stole the property using the duplicate keys ,” he said.
