GHMC Commissioner M.T. Krishna Babu has promised that the caved in drain slab near the Sir Ronald Ross Institute of Tropical & Communicable Diseases or Fever Hospital will be restored within 10 days.
Mr. Krishna Babu inspected the site along with Central Zone Commissioner Illambarithi, Engineering-in-Chief R. Dhan Singh and other officials on Tuesday and ordered barricading of the place to ensure public safety and tenders called immediately for taking up restoration work. The major drain slab of 25 ft length is more than 50 years old and it was part of remodelling of the ‘Nagamaiahkunta Nala' with a cost of Rs. 11.3 crore, but the work has been delayed as the local people went to court. The court ruled in favour of the GHMC and work is to begin soon, a release said.
