A woman working with a private bank, Padmaja, ended her life by hanging at her house at Sudarshannagar of Gachchibowli, allegedly due to harassment for additional dowry, the police said on Monday.

Based on the complaint of her parents, the police registered a case of dowry death under Section 304-B of the Indian Penal Code. Padmaja married Girish Narsimha who worked with a software company on April 20 last year.

“Padmaja's family members charged that he started harassing her for more dowry within a few months of marriage,” Gachchibowli Inspector S. Chandrakanth said. The woman was alone in the house on Sunday evening and hanged herself to the ceiling hook with a blanket.
