“Don’t politicise ‘T’ issue”

March 21, 2014 12:14 am | Updated October 13, 2016 07:43 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Instead of exploiting the formation of a separate Telangana State for political gains, political parties should explore ways for the accelerated development of the region, senior TDP leader T. Devender Goud said on Thursday.

He said the new State was set to face the shortage of power and water, and increasing unemployment. But political parties had not been debating these issues.

“Every party has its own agenda. One party says it fought for Telangana, another says it kept its promise,” Mr. Devender Goud said. The Telangana issue was thus being utilised for political gains, rather than addressing the issues were set to plunge the people into crisis.

He did not buy the argument from a section of parties (including the TDP, which he did not name though) on the reconstruction of Telangana.

“Shall we destroy the existing infrastructure and construct anew? The emphasis should be more on the augmenting resources and further strengthening infrastructure,” he said.
