Ulemas from different parts of the city on Friday cautioned Muslim youngsters against sharing terror outfit Islamic State’s (IS’s) campaign content on social media. Speaking at a meeting organised by the Majlis-e-Ithehadul Muslimeen (MIM) at its office in Darusalam here, they advised the youth not to fall into the trap of IS by ‘liking, sharing or circulating its content in the form of video clips or any inciting material.

The meeting was held in protest against the recent bomb attack at Madina during the just-concluded month of Ramzan. Condemning the attack at Madina –described as second holiest place for Muslims- in strong words, majority of the speakers said the IS was cleverly exploiting the trend of youngsters hooking onto Internet for their needs of education and information.

“Be it Facebook, Twitter or WhatsApp … never share any content related to IS. Because that will land you in trouble even if you don’t have negative intentions,” said one of the ulemas, Murtuza Pasha Quadri. “Just don’t see or read anything linked to IS, let alone sharing,” the speakers said. They reminded the youth that even watching anything wrong was not right for a true Muslim.

This was the first biggest public meeting organised in Telangana state against the IS which of late had been desperately trying to lure youngsters from Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana to join it. Ulemas from different parts came together and were united in condemning the IS. Describing the IS as terrorist organisation trying to defame Muslims in the eye of people following other faiths, they asked the youth to keep away from the outfit.

A resolution was passed by the ulemas and MIM Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi appealing to Muslim youths to be wary of IS propaganda and effectively counter the destructive ideology of the IS.
