Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMR) have decided to jointly collaborate for the proposed second phase of metro rail project for the capital which entails link with the international airport from Raidurg along with connecting a five kilometre stretch from Nagole to L.B. Nagar on corridor three and corridor one, respectively.
With Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao keen on a collaboration between both organisations for the next phase of expansion and also to share work experiences, DMRC MD Mangu Singh was invited by HMR MD N.V.S. Reddy for a meeting here on Friday.
Routes inspectedBoth MDs along with their engineers and transportation planners inspected different routes of the city which have a potential for being covered in the second phase expansion.
According to the metro rail officials, the CM wants:
Identification of potential metro rail phase-II corridors, plugging the gaps in ongoing metro rail phase-I, intermodal integration between metro stations, railway terminals, bus terminals and other modes of transport, appropriate transportation solutions like metro rail or other public transport for most parts of the city and its outskirts, depending upon the density of traffic. Techno-economic feasibility of extending corridor-I (Miyapur-LB Nagar) on both sides towards Patancheru and Hayathnagar and beyond so that the inner city metro link is connected to the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and future townships near the growth corridor and the funding options for these works.
