Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has asked the Agriculture Department to be prepared for the coming kharif season by keeping seed and fertilizer in required quantities ready before the commencement of sowings.
He told officials to discourage farmers from cultivating cotton and take up alternative crops, particularly soybean and keep large quantities of the seed ready along . Speaking at the District Collectors’ conference held here on Monday, he directed the officials of Mission Bhagiratha, the drinking water project, to complete the work of laying pipelines through farms at the earliest since the kharif season was approaching.
On the double-bedroom housing scheme, the Chief Minister said tenders should be called locally and locals should be given preference. He told the Mining Department officials to arrange sand free of cost for 2BHK houses and also make efforts towards resolving pending revenue cases on land meant for the scheme.
Directing the officials to be strategic in the arrangements for Krishna Pushkarams, the Chief Minister said unlike Godavari, Krishna river was flowing for a shorter length in the State and priority should be given to pushkara ghats, parking place and approach roads. Professional swimmers and boats should also be kept ready at all ghats to meet emergencies.
Stating that summer was not yet over, the Chief Minister told the officials of Rural Water Supply Department to continue water supply wherever it was being done. He also issued specific instructions on the celebrations of State Formation Day on June 2 including government employment to a family member each of every martyr and give five years’ time for getting necessary qualifications.
Asking the Collectors to keep an eye on corruption in the government welfare schemes, he suggested disbursement of cheques of Kalyana Laxmi and others programmes to the beneficiaries through local legislators. The Kalyana Laxmi cheques should reach the mother of the beneficiary woman before the marriage date.
On transfer of land category from agriculture to non-agriculture, the Chief Minister directed the officials to change the title within 15 days of the application by collecting the revised nala fee through mee seva centres.
